Back in November last year I visited Portsmouth for a long weekend break, the HMS Prince Of Wales had arrived a few days prior and was commissioned a week later. I also visited the National Museum of the Royal Navy, located on Portsmouth’s Historic Dockyard, which brings history to life. Some of the photos in this set include HMS Victory and the photos taken of HMS Prince of Wales were from the harbour tour boat which takes visitors on a water-based trip around the naval base at Portsmouth.
Also in this set of images is the Gunwharf Keys area of Portsmouth, the area has undergone a large amount of regeneration including a new shopping centre. This can be seen behind the Spinnaker Tower, which was given to the area of Portsmouth at the turn of the millennium. Designed based on a spinnaker sail on a sailing vessel, the tower offers views of the southern coastline of the UK.
